The concept of Entrepreneurship has been around since the early days of humanity, traced back to nearly 20,000 years ago [1] and changing from one form of exchange to another throughout human history. Today, it is posited as an engine for more jobs and economic development and impacts our daily lives more than Fortune 500 companies.

As an ExO Ambassador, nothing has been more impactful to me than being on the ground level in Washington, D.C., to catalyze support systems for entrepreneurship. These efforts, although local, aim to build the foundations of one global entrepreneurial ecosystem. From simple topical webinars to more complex growth summits, they all cater to various gaps and pitfalls in the proverbial “Entrepreneur’s Journey.”

But this is only the beginning. Rising ecosystem builders like Pedro Lopez Sela (ExO Builder), Niki Faldemolaei (ExO Economy), and Mollie Q. Coleman (1Exponential) are doing some fantastic work to connect the dots and engage across geographies to push collaborative boundaries. Recently they combined efforts to join in the world-renown Global Entrepreneurship Week celebration to scale impact on the global stage.

In today’s world, global is the new local. And the community agrees—the recent SWAE proposal to connect, engage, and educate through the #GEW2022 celebration—has received a broad appeal. And it should come as no surprise, as “taking risks and disrupting the status quo is something everyone should do in business, but you have to make sure you have others along for the ride,” Pedro reminds us.

And to push our mass collaboration boundaries even further, this dovetails with the eighth United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), calling for promoting “inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment, and decent work for all.” [2] We are, in essence, tapping into various nodes and efforts to collectively move towards what OpenExO deems its north star, “transforming the world for a better future.”

And we invite you to be a part of this energy and excitement. Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s most extensive collection of events, competitions, and activities in +170 countries, reaching millions of people of all ages and backgrounds. The only way it could get more significant is to bring more catalyzers like you!

Join the OpenExO GEW Community Organizer team

As a Community Organizer, you can organize and manage any programming relevant to your community — keynotes, panels, hack-a-thons, startup showcases, or something new. It’s an excellent opportunity to show off your startup community and get the message out to new people who might not yet be exposed to the entrepreneurial mindset.

1Exponential is joining Global Entrepreneurship Week

For the first year ever, 1Exponential will be joining in the OpenExO efforts during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November. The combination promises to be even more Global-sized than ever.

Whatever your experience level, joining the “GEW Crew” will lead to strategic learning, and some outsized impact, for minimal effort. It’s a win-win-win.
